Celebrity Crush: Blake Lively

First off, she’s one of the few actresses that could still be considered a role model. Secondly, she’s gorgeous and she’s got some serious style. But most importantly, even though she is often seen as a sex symbol, she is most often very moderately clothed. She has managed to maintain an image of the sweet, funny, modest, wanna-be Martha Stewart, girl next door.

Even though she’s only a couple years older than, she totally seems like a good role model… providing, of course, that I’m still young enough to have be able to consider celebrities as role models.

I’m going to be completely honest and real with you for a second…. I’ll admit it, I’m not ashamed…. I’m a Nicole Richie fan. She just has this wonderfully dry sense of humor. So when these little episodes pop-up on my twitter/instagram feed… let’s just say the world stops so I can experience five minutes of really dry laughter (aka silent smirking).

Excuses, Excuses

I hate it when people make excuses. It probably rankings in my top 5-10 pet peeves. Honestly, making excuses is just like lying. And what’s the point of lying? Are people really that afraid of what other people think of them?

Or more commonly… people generally make excuses because they don’t want to do something. So all of a sudden they “don’t have time” or something like that. When did telling the truth become soo difficult?

GORGEOUS. Wrong colors for my room, but absolutely stunning. Plus, it has that nice 1920s feel that is all the craze right now thanks to The Great Gatsby. If I had graphic design ability (and since I know people who do, I know that I don’t) I would totally just recreate this to reflect me and my babies. Everyone loves puppy chow. Whether you call it muddy buddies, moose poop, or the correct term- PUPPY CHOW. But for some reason, it never crossed my mind that there is so much more you can do with puppy chow than just keeping it the standard chow.

I’ve never been one for flowers or landscaping or really anything green or planty… but for some reason, I love terrariums. They’re crazy beautiful, but completely and effortlessly simple. Seems like an easy way to liven up any room, and since buying them is too expensive….

What a beautiful little bureau we have here! I think it’s amazing for people to be able to think past the ordinary. Normally people would focus on enhancing the front, but the opposite was done here. The front was simplified and sides were enhanced.

Now that makes for a piece of furniture you don’t want to shove into a tight space.

Mast Brothers Chocolate Packaging

This is probably the only chocolate I don’t want to devour. And only because it is a mold for the most amazing chocolate bar packaging I’ve ever seen. The design of Mast Brothers chocolate, which is made in Brooklyn, is unlike any packaging I’ve ever seen before.

Ridiculously hipster. I seriously bet this chocolate cost a pretty penny for absolutely no reason.

Here is what Rick Mast had to say about it: “We originally just wrapped our chocolate in butcher paper, in hopes of doing anything we could to communicate the message that chocolate is food — not candy. We soon realized that the packaging needed something more so we tried to retain the feel of butcher paper but with beautifully designed patterns.”

Every chocolate bar they create is hand-wrapped in specially designed patterned paper, one pattern for each of their many flavors. Although understated, the packaging, in its simplicity and thoughtfulness, alludes to the nature of the product it contains.

Selfless Sun Inspiration

Being selfless… and I mean completely selfless… is probably one of the hardest things to attempt to do. And I say attempt because I’m not really sure it’s even possible. We all do selfless actions, but that doesn’t necessarily make us selfless. We typically get something out of being selfless, or at least except we will, which complete removes the whole giving nature from it.

And to selflessly love…. that a whole other situation. Not possible. Seriously, the only person to ever accomplish it… Jesus (cue the corny bells). But think about it… could you SELFLESSLY LOVE? I honestly don’t think I could.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. Yes, exactly that many loves. I seriously thought this black and white branding concept couldn’t get any more spectacular until I saw the idea for a the print ad. While it might not be the most direct ad every created, seeing Gillette off to the side does encourage me to look for the product they’re trying to sell.
