The Native Bowl

Everything element from the website to the truck and the menu is perfectly coordinated. Talk about a branding job well done! The typographic (and the contrast using the different fonts) and graphic design are especially amazing. The owners of this lovely place are Julie and Jay Hasson. Julie Hasson is also the author of Vegan Diner a book dedicated to classic comfort foods.

But this does bring up the question of why the food truck is called The Native Bowl and not The Vegan Diner. I would assumes its to attract people who may still be terrified of the word “vegan.”

But back to the point. This is whole branding scheme is completely amazing.

Dog Treats Food Truck

Yes, let’s take a trip down awesome lane and combine my obsession with food trucks with my obsession with dogs. Say hello to: Fido To Go!!!

Can you say “completely baller?” And plus their Taste of River North video makes me want to cry tears of happiness because I love my dogs too. And their website is pretty  legit!

I sincerely wished I lived in Chicago- and actually had a dog living with me instead of at home. I would be her bestest customer, unless the treats are wicked expensive.

PS: Bill Rancic is on here….. I love Bill Rancic. And no, not because he’s married to Guilanna.

Food Trucks: Cupcakory

Yes, Boston does indeed have its fair share of food trucks, but lets be honest- there is NOTHING  like a cupcake truck. Who doesn’t want to access to cupcakes where ever they go? Seriously, if I was rich I would totally pay one to follow me around all day (don’t worry that’s totally a lie, I would probably want it to be a mobile candy shoppe as well to maximizing pleasure).

And while The Cupcakory might not be the biggest and baddest cupcake truck by size, their cupcakes speak for themselves. They have arguably one the top cupcakes in Boston, even compare to places with actually store fronts.

The vegan peanut butter cupcake was the one I pleasured myself with, and seriously, I could have been killed by a moving car right after and be the happiest person alive. So rich and moist and light and fluffy- the perfectly balanced of any cupcake. There is even a perfect balance of chocolate and peanut butter. PLUS! When you get one to go, they put it in one of those chinese food containers :)

Future of Food Trucks

We all know I love me some food trucks, but at lot of people don’t like them. It’s just that they just think of them as dirty little mobile street carts which will probably give you food poisoning that will result in a really bad day or two. Well low and behold-Roach Coach no more, if all food trucks were designed like this concept… the food would probably be much more expensive. But hey, if class gives you comfort, the food might be worth the extra couple of bucks.

Food Trucks: Bon Me

So I finally got around to trying this truck at the food truck festival a couple weeks ago and let me say, I was not at all disappointed! I went for the sandwich and it. was. HUGE. SOOO much food, really almost too much food for lunch, but me being an American I didn’t hesitate in finishing it. You definitely get more than your money’s worth here. Plus, they’re on Level Up making it super easy to check out and way easier than having a rewards card.

If only I could get them to follow me around for whenever I have a craving for asian… good thing they have more than on truck!

Food Trucks…. FRANKLIN, TN!
So my obsession with food trucks only grows with the number of food trucks available, but for some reason I no longer want to be confined to the food trucks of Boston (not they’re not amazing and all). So I’ve been researching the food trucks of New York City/Brooklyn, which as you would suspect, own at life. But then I wonder about if there were any in the humble little land of Nashville/Franklin, Tennessee. AND LOOK WHAT I FOUND! As if this place that I love so much couldn’t get any awesomer. It is seem to be able to find most everything I love about Boston on a smaller scale in Nashville or Franklin…… Could these two different worlds really be combining? Can I randomly rant on this any longer? Don’t doubt me…

Hey Cupcake! Airstream
All my dreams have come true. Dreams that I didn’t even realize until I saw this. I love cupcakes, and I love airstream trailers. BOOM DONE, Sold, all the other cupcake retailers of the world can just go back into oblivion. I mean there are a couple of cupcake trucks here in Boston, but we all know airstream trailers are infinitely cooler. Plus, it has seating! Probably to prevent people from just stuffing the cupcake in their pie hole, and forcing them to take some time to actually enjoy the cupcake. I guess that means they’re cupcakes are good…
So I googled, them and found their website which has to most awesome "about us" story video and found out they’re from Austin, TX.
And even their ballin’ logo pays to tribute to the airstream.

Roxy’s Grilled Cheese Truck

When it comes to food trucks and Boston, I clearly hit all the important ones first. That’s right, the ones that sell BBQ, grilled cheese, cupcakes, and froyo (there are other ones that sell things like fish and vegan food, this is Boston after all). So this truck, now known most for it’s their third place marks on The Great Food Truck Race on the food network. But I’m no junky, I totally knew about them before they were on that show. I just had never tired them… So once I found out that they come to my college campus 3-4 days a week, I had no choice but to finally go for it…. And I had been postponing it in fear I wouldn’t live up to it’s hype.

Yeah, that little baby is the Mighty Rib Melt and it was freakin’ fantastically amazing. Like it literally was perfectly melted on the cheese end, the short ribs were warm, and the bread was perfectly crunchy for the most amazing sear from the grill. And that wasn’t the only good lookin’ thing on their menu. So I’ll be going back for more!

P.S. They were super recently names on of the 25 best grilled cheese makers in the country by Food & Wine, so there.

Food Trucks: Lefty’s Silver Cart

Alright, so it’s not necessarily a food “truck” but a cart is close enough, especially because it’s nothing like a street vendor cart.

But that didn’t stop it from grabbing my attention at the SoWa Market (aka South Washington - yes, I finally know what it means, apparently I was the only one who didn’t). I got the Figment and don’t let that picture I linked to fool you, under all the arugula is jammed packed with flavor, no pun intended (and now you could probably guess that there is some of jam under there - and there’s goat cheese too, just sayin’).

I think it would be appropriate if I attached this to the back of my car. That way I could have some whenever I feel the urge.
