National Cereal Day

I figure that was no better way to celebrate than some how combining my obsession with food holidays with my obsession with something else… and I decide the 1950s would be perfect cuz even those grandparents of your’s ate cereal.

And without that wonderful 10 years, we wouldn’t have seen the birth of:

• Cocoa Puffs
• Honey Smacks
• Cocoa Krispies
• Rice Chex
• Corn Pops
• Trix
• Raisin Bran
• Frosted Flakes… which combined with raisin bran is basically my fav combo ever…
• Special K… most surprising, I though that was only like 5-10 years ago
• Jets… which died in the early 70s, at least it lasted longer than Hannah Montana’s

PS… Mr. Trix Rabbit, freakin’ awesome!!!! Did anyone else notice he was rockin’ the roller skates?! I love roller skates!!

National Raisin Bran Day

Yes, the mecca of all cereals deserves to have their own day. And they’ve done such a fantastical job expanding their “bran” (pun, totally intented) from boring to an EXPLOSION OF FLAVOR IN YOUR MOUTH! Oh my gosh, before I tried my favorite flavor, Raisin Bran Crunch, I though raisin bran was for boring old people who have problems down there, but it’s sooo much better than that!! 

 

I could probably eat more than half a box in one sitting, and even better than the cereals, okay, not really better BUT just as amazing, is the milk AFTER the cereal has been soaking in it. Why don’t they just bottle that stuff up and sell it?? They are definitely missing out on some market share there. Now I just need to try Raisin Bran Extra,  because that one looks good too!!
